1. Who We Are
MyBookClub ("we", "us", "our") is an iOS app that helps readers discover and join local book clubs. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at app.mybookclub@gmail.com.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

We do not collect precise real-time GPS tracking, advertising identifiers, browsing history, contacts, or any health data.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To create and maintain your account
- To show you nearby book clubs
- To enable club features: voting, reading progress, board posts, meeting RSVPs
- To send push notifications you've opted into (meeting reminders, join requests)
- To improve the app (aggregate, anonymised analytics only via TelemetryDeck — no personal data is shared)
4. Data Storage & Security
All data is stored securely on Supabase (supabase.com), a trusted backend platform with SOC 2 compliance, encryption at rest, and encryption in transit (TLS). We apply Row-Level Security policies so users can only access data they are permitted to see.

We do not share your personal data with any other third parties for advertising or commercial purposes.
6. Your Rights (GDPR & Beyond)
Depending on your location, you have the right to:
- Access — export all your data via Settings → Export My Data
- Deletion — permanently delete your account and all associated data via Settings → Delete Account
- Correction — update your profile at any time in the app
- Portability — your data export is provided in JSON format
- Withdraw consent — disable push notifications at any time in Settings → Notifications

7. Children's Privacy
MyBookClub is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data (profile, posts, RSVPs, reading progress) is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Aggregate anonymised data may be retained longer for service improvement.
9. Push Notifications
We send push notifications for: meeting reminders (24 hours and 1 hour before), and join-request updates for club organisers. You can disable these at any time in the app (Settings → Notifications) or via your iPhone's notification settings.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll note the updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. For material changes, we will notify you via the app.

By downloading or using MyBookClub ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Who Can Use the App
You must be at least 13 years old to use MyBookClub. By using the App, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. Your Account
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account
- You may not create accounts for others or impersonate another person
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Post content that is hateful, harassing, defamatory, or illegal
- Share spoilers without marking them appropriately (use the spoiler toggle)
- Spam club boards or vote sessions with irrelevant content
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or our systems
- Use the App for any commercial solicitation without our permission
- Scrape, reverse-engineer, or otherwise extract data from the App
5. Club Organisers
If you create a club, you are responsible for moderating its content and membership. MyBookClub reserves the right to remove clubs or content that violates these Terms.
6. Content You Post
You retain ownership of content you post (posts, comments, etc.). By posting, you grant MyBookClub a limited, non-exclusive licence to display that content within the App to other members of your club. We will never sell your content or use it for advertising.
7. Intellectual Property
The MyBookClub name, logo, and app design are our intellectual property. Book covers and metadata are sourced from the Google Books API and remain the property of their respective rights holders.
8. Disclaimers
MyBookClub is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We are not responsible for the conduct of other users or the content of external websites linked from the App.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MyBookClub shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance. For material changes, we will notify you via the App.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of France. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Paris, France.
